Abstract:
This dataset shows the contour lines at 10-meter intervals for the island of Guam. It was created from a 4-meter resolution bareearth elevation raster and a shoreline shapefile. The bareearth raster was derived from a last return terrain from the 2007 LIDAR data for the island of Guam collected by the Joint Airborne LIDAR Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise (JALBTCX) for the Government of Guam Department of Public Works, and the Government of Guam Emergency Management Office.The original LiDAR dataset was developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District for quality checking purposes. This is an interim product that is expected to be replaced since the data is not final. The contour lines were created by the Bureau of Statistics and Plans, Government of Guam.
Purpose:
The contour line files were compiled to provide elevational information for use in general planning. They do NOT replace on-the-ground survey.

The LIDAR data was collected for the Government of Guam Department of Public Works, and the Government of Guam Emergency Management Office. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District project manager was Milton Yoshimoto (808) 438-2250.

Process_Description:
Projected raster to WGS84_UTM_Zone_55_North using "NAD_1983_To_WGS_1984". Resample raster to a 4-meter resolution grid. Create 10-meter contour lines using Spatial Analyst tools.
Further processing to make it a visually better result included: a. deleted 0m contour lines along shoreline (over 2000 tiny circles -> which were not continous) b. converted guam_final_poly_UTM to polyline c. copied guam_final_poly_UTM_line to contours and assign “0” elevation to it d. added field length (meters ) -> calculate -> select “Length <= 10m) -> 5275 out of 16956 selected -> delete selected (tiny circles) e. delete abnormal lines (e.g., negative lines near Leo Palace and all lines outside Guam shoreline polygon.
=> Clean polylines -> delete all lines with length < 25m.
