Description:
Abstract:
This dataset shows the location of major sinkholes and other closed-contour depressions on Guam. The point location is generally the lowest point of the depression and not necessarily the center of the feature.
Purpose: For general planning purposes.
Supplemental_Information:
The features were digitzed on-screen by visual interpretation of up-to-date source layers, primarily LiDAR-derived surface raster layers and satellite imagery (2011). Note that this dataset is by no means a complete inventory of all sinkholes and closed-contour depressions on Guam, only the majority of larger features were captured; also some 'sinkholes' may in fact be man-made quarries or other type of closed-contour depressions.

Process_Description:
Sinkholes were digitzed on-screen based on various LiDAR (2007)-derived surface raster layers (DEM, hillshade, slope, etc). WorldView2 satellite imagery by Digital Globe from 2011 was used as secondary source. USGS Topo Maps were used for name and type information.

Attribute_Accuracy:
Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
Attribute accuracy has not been evaluated. Only few fields have been populated. The type information (e.g. borrow pit) was generally only included if it was present in the USGS Topo Map.
Logical_Consistency_Report:
Data are believed to be logically consistent. Sinkholes were identified using LiDAR-derived surface raster layers. WorldView2 satellite imagery by Digital Globe from 2011 and USGS Topo Maps 1:24,000 for secondary reference.
Completeness_Report:
This dataset is believed to be complete regarding the location of major sinkholes and other closed-contour depresssions. Smaller features may not be included here. Attributes are incomplete but will be added as field work
Positional_Accuracy:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report:
The location of the point is not neccessarily the true center of the feature. The source layers are based on high-accuracy LiDAR-derived data and satellite imagery.
